Toxicity Profile of Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Vs. 3D-Conformal Radiotherapy in Head and neck cancer: A Retrospective study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Most head and neck patients have historically been treated with photon-based radiation techniques such as intensity modulated therapy (IMRT), there is a growing awareness of the potential clinical benefits proton over IMRT in definitive, postoperative reirradiation settings given unique physical properties protons. Aim work: to assess toxicity profile comparison 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) predictors for progression free survival overall rates. Patients Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 131 cancer who were recruited from El Hussein University Hospital 10 years then they divided into 2 groups according type radiotherapy. Results: Both comparable regarding age, sex associated medical disorders except ischemic heart disease smoking. Sites primary tumors tongue nasopharynx. 3DCRT group received TPF induction chemotherapy most concurrent chemotherapy. Dose irradiation was higher significantly among group. Grades early late There no statistically significant difference between both response treatment. Mortality cases Cox regression analysis performed each Conclusion: provide good choice technique cancers adequate efficacy similar other better profile.

Dose Distribution Analysis of Rapid Arc and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Plan in Head and Neck Cancer

Introduction: Globally, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is considered as highly precise and accurate method of radiotherapy planning. This technique amplifies spatial dose distribution conformity by modulating the intensity of radiation beams in each sub-volume. Additionally, it can reduces the dose to surrounding critical organs and deliver the planned dose to targets with the nom...

3-Dimensional conformal radiotherapy versus intensity modulated radiotherapy for localized prostate cancer: Dosimetric and radiobiologic analysis

Background: To analyze the dosimetric and radio biologic advantages between intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and 3 dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and selection of optimal photon energy for IMRT treatments. Material and methods: 24 patients with localized prostate carcinoma were planned for 3DCRT and IMRT techniques. Radiation dose of 54 Gy with 2 Gy/fraction, was planned to ...

Intensity modulated radiotherapy of upper abdominal malignancies: dosimetric comparison with 3D conformal radiotherapy and acute toxicity

BACKGROUND The goal of this study was to assess a possible dosimetric advantage of intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) of upper abdominal malignancies compared to three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT), and to assess the impact of IMRT on acute toxicity. METHODS Thirty-one unselected consecutive patients with upper abdominal malignancies were treated with definitive (n =16) or p...

Patterns of local-regional recurrence after conformal and intensity-modulated radiotherapy for head and neck cancer

AIM To evaluate the patterns of loco-regional recurrences in head and neck cancer patients METHODS: Twenty-six out of 112 patients treated with primary or postoperative 3D CRT or IMRT for their primary and recurrent disease between 2007 and 2013 were included. The CT images of recurrent disease were rigidly registered with the primary CT images for each patient. To assess overlaps and overlap l...
